Meet the talent: Sooyeon Choi
We sat down with Sooyeon Choi.
What’s your name and where are you from?
Hello! My name is Sooyeon and I'm originally from South Korea, and I moved to Finland because of my partner. And I love to be here, I like the culture & Finnish people.
As a South Korean, what aspects of your cultural background have you brought with you to Finland?
As a South Korean, I think one of the most important things we value is community and caring for others. And that's definitely something I've brought with me to Finland. I'm always curious about other people and their stories, and I love connecting with them on a personal level. In today's tech-driven world, it's easy to forget the human element, but I think it's so important to remember that we're all in this together. Plus, there's nothing that makes me happier than sharing good things with other people. It's just a part of who I am!
What's something surprising about you?
Well, there are actually two things. First, I'm a huge gamer. I've been playing Nintendo and PC games since I was six years old, and I love how games allow me to interact with people in unique ways. And second, I'm a really curious person. I love finding connections between different things and learning about new cultures and history. For example, when I traveled to Australia and realized they drive on the left side of the road, I started researching how many other countries do that and ended up learning a lot about colonialism and history. It's always fascinating to me to learn new things and expand my perspective.
What kind of work have you done before?
I used to work at MBC Gyeongnam, a national company in South Korea, as a freelance writer doing a variety of tasks like interviewing people, research, writing scripts, and organizing schedules. I really enjoy content creation and video production.
What kind of jobs are you looking for now?
I'm really into creating content and producing videos. I'm especially interested in working with education and gaming industries, but honestly, I'm open to exploring any industry that values creativity and innovation. I'm also keen on pursuing growth marketing opportunities where I can use my problem-solving skills to help companies grow and thrive. At the moment, I'm still exploring my options and trying to figure out the best path for me. But one thing's for sure - I'm excited to see where this journey takes me!
What has your experience with Herizon’s Growth hacking course been like?
I really appreciate the way it's organized. It's easy to follow and I always know what I'm doing next. I also like that it helps me learn about growth hacking, which can be hard to find information on if you don’t have a background in tech. It's a great way to learn how to think strategically and set clear objectives.
What do you do to stay motivated and positive when faced with challenges?
Life is full of challenges, and nothing worthwhile comes easily. However, I'm genuinely excited about my new journey in Finland and the chance to expand my knowledge and skills. I believe that challenges can be seen from various perspectives, and personally, I don't feel that my efforts go to waste. No matter what obstacles come my way, I always strive to move forward and keep progressing. That's why I'm grateful to have found Herizon—it has provided me with a valuable learning opportunity and the chance to connect with amazing individuals. I see challenges as valuable life lessons that help me grow, and I'm eager to face them head-on. With Herizon, I have access to numerous possibilities and a supportive community that encourages learning. While I may still be searching for a job, I'm gaining invaluable knowledge and meeting inspiring people. In fact, I'm already contemplating new career paths and envisioning myself as a growth marketing professional.
What would you say to other Herizon community members?
I would tell them not to overthink and not to compare themselves to others. We live in a connected world, but people don't pay attention to what you're doing as much as you might think. Just be authentic and share your stories in your own way. Also, don't hesitate to put yourself out there.
